Sorbact® Gel Compress
Bacteria and fungi binding wound dressing with hydrogel
Reduces bioburden in dry to exuding wounds
Sorbact® Gel Compress is a non-absorbent bacteria and fungi binding wound dressing, based on Sorbact® Technology. It consists of a Sorbact® DACC™-coated wound contact layer covered with a hydrogel containing carbomer and propylene glycol (10%). Sorbact® Gel Compress hydrates and donates moisture to the wound bed1 and facilitates autolytic debridement2. Sorbact® Gel Compress treats and helps to prevent wound infections3 and facilitates the wound healing process.
Intended purpose
Sorbact® Gel Compress is intended for use in management of clean, contaminated, colonized or infected dry to exuding wounds, such as surgical wounds, traumatic wounds, burns, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers and leg ulcers. It can be used on both superficial and deep wounds. For managing exudate, Sorbact® Gel Compress should be used together with a moisture preserving secondary dressing appropriate for the exudate level.

Step 2
Select an appropriate dressing size.
Step 3
Remove the dressing from the peel pouch using an aseptic technique.
Step 4
If the dressing is cut, use an aseptic technique.
Step 5
Apply the dressing. Ensure that the dressing comes into direct contact with the complete wound surface to allow microorganisms to bind to the dressing. The dressing should not overlap the surrounding skin. Avoid dense packing when used in deep wounds.
Step 6
Apply a moisture preserving secondary dressing appropriate for the exudate level, such as foam dressing, absorbent pad or film dressing, and fixate.
Step 7
The dressing change frequency depends on exudate levels and the overall condition of the wound and surrounding skin. Should the clinical condition allow, the dressing can be left in place for up to 7 days. Should the dressing adhere to the wound, moisten the dressing to assist removal and to avoid disruption of the healing wound.
Sorbact® Gel Compress can be used in conjunction with compression therapy.
Sorbact® Gel Compress is MRI safe. Prior to radiation therapy, remove Sorbact® Gel Compress if placed in the radiation field. A new dressing can be applied following treatment.
