The third edition of the Wound Infection in Clinical Practice guidance is here

Date: 19 April 2022

The International Wound Infection Institute (IWII) has launched the third edition of their Wound Infection in Clinical Practice guidance. Infection prevention and management is an issue of global urgency, due to the increasing threat of antimicrobial resistance and the need for practice frameworks informed by antimicrobial stewardship principles. New information about infection and biofilm is also incorporated into the guidance.

This important consensus document provides practical information based on the latest understanding of the science and clinical applications regarding wound infection.

Terry Swanson and Karen Ousey, Co-Chairs of the IWII, said: “This is the third edition of the IWII Wound Infection guidance and has been developed to provide HCPs globally with knowledge to effectively prevent, identify and manage wound infection supported with current evidence-based literature. The Wound Infection Continuum has been updated, allowing HCPs a visual representation of prevention, identification and management strategies.”
